In the first inning of Tuesday's game, Willson Contreras patiently waited before stepping up to the plate
As the crowd grew around Wrigley Field, the Cubs' legendary catcher stood near the plate with a bat in hand.
On Monday night, Contreras strove to hold back tears while describing
his plans for what could be his final home game with the Cubs.
His performance during an emotional day in the North Side was exemplary as
he beat the Pirates by a score of 4-2 on Sunday.
Described Contreras as "amazing," he said.
"I tried to enjoy it, enjoy it as much as I could, and take it all in."
